Rare Wilkinson Type I Second Pattern F-S Fighting Knife With Banner Etching

Rare Wilkinson Type I Second Pattern F-S Fighting Knife

Price: $

Ref: 7138

A rare and early Wilkinson Type I (all nickel) Second Pattern F-S Fighting Knife with even rarer correct early scabbard.  This knife also was supplied with a bannered etching, which is very rare to find on these early knives, sadly wear has just about obscured the details held within, - I can just make out what looks like ‘P.T.E. R’, presumably for Private R ?   However this knife is a wonderful and honest example of a real Commando knife that was clearly carried and used (not abused).  A great original scabbard (elastic present but at fault).  Totally original and untouched pommel nut.  Standard etchings readable and quite clear.  Blade having a length just shy of 6¾”, showing general staining, sharpening marks and use.  Overall a really hansom example of a rare knife.
