Unique & Exceptional Wilkinson Second Pattern F-S Fighting Knife With Hand-Written Etching.

Female SOE Connection???

Unique & Exceptional Wilkinson Second Pattern

Price: $

Ref: 8101

I have known about this knife for many years, so I’m thrilled to now be able to offer this truly unique and important F-S for sale.  The knife is original and uncleaned.  Standard Wilkinson/FS etching.  Scabbard is modified with a snap-fastener with ‘English Make’ logo.  The blade is near full length showing 6⅝” with very slight blunting to the tip.  The beautiful hand-written etching is the only such example I have ever seen and reads ‘To Darling Pessy with all my love Maggie.’.  Cursory research reveals that ‘Pessy’ is a Yiddish girls nickname common in Eastern Europe, Poland?  So I asked myself what would a Polish (?) Jewish girl in England be doing with an F-S knife in WWII?  Could this have some clandestine connection?  Purse speculation on my part but gosh it’s rather exciting to even consider such a concept.  Further research may be possible but as a stand alone knife with a unique hand-written etching from a lady TO a Jewish lady, well it doesn’t get more interesting or unique than this.  Truly incredible.
